Gauguin

After having left Paris, his family and friends in 1981, Paul Gauguin, an uncompromising visionarist, settled in an exotic Tahiti island to get inspiration for his paintings in an immaculate wilderness. Not only finds he loneliness and poverty instead of desired paradise but he also has to struggle with his weak health, refusal and doubts. However, he meets an aboriginal beauty, Tehura, who becomes his wife and muse too. Edouard Deluc´s film is an epic but also meditative exploration of the prodigy´s passionate and problematic mind. Starring Vincent Cassel, we are witnesses to his impressive and exquisite performance.
